High school provincials kick off this Saturday, June 4 starting at 10AM

REGINA - Saskatchewan's 2016 high school rugby provincials are underway at the Regina Rugby Club this Saturday, June 4. This event gathers teams from across the province; Regina, Wilcox, Saskatoon, Lashburn, and Warman all meeting to compete for the title.

The top two teams from the Regina Rugby Union and North Saskatchewan Rugby Union in both the boy's and girl's leagues are set to compete. Leboldus and Notre Dame will represent the south in both boys and girls divisions with the Lashburn Luckies and Saskatoon Sirens coming down to represent the girls and All Blacks and Springboks representing the boys.

Notre Dame girls will be looking to defend their reigning provincial title coming off another undefeated season. The girls defeated the Leboldus Girls in a 94-0 victory in the city final on Wednesday. The Leboldus Boys managed to swipe the 10 year provincial title from the Notre Dame boys last year and are looking to do it again, coming off their own 22-17 win in the city final.

From the north, the All Blacks are coming in with only 1 loss as the top NSRU team and the Springboks, taking the place of the River Dragons, will play as the second place team. The Lashburn Girls are the top NSRU team for the girls, coming in from an undefeated season.  The Saskatoon Sirens are taking the place of the Meadow Lake She Devils as the second place team.
