Kayla Mack - Player
Kayla Mack is one of Canada’s most consistent and versatile rugby forwards, earning 36 caps, competing in two Rugby World Cups, and excelling across both 15s and Sevens on the international stage.
Kayla Mack rose rapidly through Canada’s development pathway, starting rugby in grade 10 and quickly advancing to provincial representation, then to Canada’s U20 team for the 2009 Nations Cup—her first international experience. She made her senior debut two years later at the 2011 Nations Cup, starting against both South Africa and the United States, immediately establishing herself as a reliable and impactful forward.
Between 2011 and 2017, Mack became a mainstay of Canada’s 15s program, earning 36 caps, scoring 3 tries, and being selected for 90% of available tests. She played in two Rugby World Cups (2014 and 2017), featuring in all five matches during Canada’s historic silver medal run in 2014, and starting key games again in 2017. Her performances at the 2016 Super Series—where Canada posted decisive wins over England, the USA, and France—cemented her place as a dependable, high workrate lock/flanker whose presence elevated the pack. Coaches praised her as an “energizer” with contagious energy and invaluable off-field leadership.
Mack also contributed meaningfully in the Sevens game, earning four World Rugby Sevens Series appearances between 2014 and 2016, scoring 2 tries, and representing Canada until being recalled to the 15s ahead of the 2017 World Cup. Her ability to shift between formats showcased her athletic versatility, physicality, and adaptability. Beyond her on field excellence, she remained deeply connected to the sport, supporting player pathways in Saskatchewan and serving as a mentor and role model for young Canadian athletes.
